C80 Mini Fat Tyre Electric Bike – 16 Inch Wheel Version
Compact. Capable. Built for the Streets.
Let’s be honest. The C80 Mini isn’t a cruising electric bike. You’re not doing 60-mile tours or flying down trails on this thing. It’s a fat tyred, compact cruiser made to be simple, fun, and road-friendly. If you’re expecting torque like a Bosch mid drive, forget it. But if you’re after something quirky, low to the ground, and ideal for short runs around town, this thing will put a grin on your face.
Now, let’s talk size. I’m 6f,t and it’s a bit small for me. It’s rideable, just about, but I wouldn’t want to use it daily. If you’re under 6ft, especially around 5 ft 10 or shorter, you’ll probably be fine. It’s built with smaller riders in mind, it is a mini e-bike after all.
Yes, I’ve ridden it. Yes, I built it myself. And no, I’m not here to sugarcoat anything.

Performance Breakdown
Core Components
Motor & Battery
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 6.5/10
The 250W rear hub motor ensures compliance with UK regulations but has limited torque. While it handles flat roads effortlessly, steep hills can slow you down to around 5mph. The 36V 10Ah battery delivers a real-world range of 15–20 miles, with larger replacements available online for a reasonable price, so getting more range wouldn’t be too difficult, with a bigger ebike battery.
Controller & Display
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 8/10
The vibrant LCD display is intuitive and packed with features, showing speed, battery level, assist mode, and trip data. With 5 pedal assist levels and a responsive interface, this is one of the standout components.
Ride & Build Quality
Frame & Design
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 7.5/10
The sturdy steel frame feels robust and durable, though its weight can affect hill-climbing performance. Visually, it’s a head-turner with a cruiser aesthetic that screams confidence. There is no doubt this is a very cool looking bike, but it is a small frame it’s made for smaller riders and not suitable for everyone.
Suspension & Tyres
⭐⭐⭐☆☆☆ 5.5/10
The 16×4 fat tyres provide excellent grip and comfort on smooth surfaces, but the lack of suspension means rough terrain isn’t ideal. Stick to urban streets and paved paths for the best experience. This score is just for tyres, though it would be a 0 for suspension.
Handling
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 7/10
Responsive steering at low speeds makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces, though it can feel twitchy at higher speeds. Perfect for navigating city streets.
Gearing & Braking
Gearing
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 6.5/10
The Shimano Tourney 7-speed system shifts reliably but lacks the finesse of premium components. It’s adequate for casual rides but may struggle on varied terrain.
Brakes
⭐⭐⭐☆☆☆ 6/10
Mechanical disc brakes are functional but underwhelming, given the bike’s weight. Stopping power is average, and they may require tuning over time; they work that is as much as I can say.
Features & Extras
Lighting
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 8/10
A bright front headlight and rear light give the C80 a motorbike-inspired look, ensuring excellent visibility during night rides.
Accessories
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 7/10
Full plastic fenders and a strong kickstand come standard, but the absence of a rear rack limits utility for carrying items.
Smart Features
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 6.5/10
Built-in indicators, a key fob-controlled immobiliser, and an alarm system add a layer of security and convenience, perfect for urban environments. The indicators are very cool too, which you can turn on and off via the handbars.
Usability & Maintenance
Setup
⭐⭐⭐☆☆☆ 6.5/10
Assembly can be tricky, with some users reporting poorly written instructions. A video tutorial can help, but expect to spend an hour or more setting it up solo.
Maintenance
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 7.5/10
Standard parts make repairs straightforward, and the removable battery locks securely. Upgrades and replacements are readily available online.
Portability
⭐⭐⭐☆☆☆ 5.5/10
At approximately 25kg, the C80 is heavy and challenging to carry upstairs. If portability is a priority, this might not be the right choice.
Value & Competition
Price vs. Features
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 7.5/10
While not the cheapest option, the C80 offers unique features like the immobiliser, indicators, and solid build quality. However, compromises in power and comfort prevent it from being a true bargain, this is a bike for the smaller ride, its a good beach cruiser or a good summer bike, will be enhanced if you buy a bigger battery and improve the brakes, but this is not a heavy duty ebike, its a fun bike at a good price point.
Warranty & Support
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 7/10
A one-year warranty covers key components, with six months for the battery. Support is decent for the price range.
Final Verdict
Overall Score: 7.0 / 10
The C80 Mini is a bold, stylish electric bike designed for street-focused riders. Its strengths lie in its unique style, urban-friendly features, and ease of handling. However, its limitations on hills and lack of suspension mean it’s best suited for flat city terrain. For shorter riders or teens looking for their first e-bike, it strikes a sweet spot between looks, performance, and practicality.
Anyone 6 ft or over is going to struggle to use this bike, anyone who lives near big hills is going to be frustrated, but this is a cool bike, its a good price and there is plenty of room for people to improve this bike, should you wish to do so, the frame is bomb proof and solid.
So its a good but just be aware of the limitations.
